Dogs on the patio, and the rules behind it

Colorado lets restaurants welcome pet dogs in outdoor dining areas, if the owner wants to. Your dog must reach the patio through its own entrance without going through the restaurant, stay off the seats and benches, and be on a leash or in a carrier, and you are responsible for how it behaves (C.R.S. 25-4-1615). Each place sets its own policy, so a patio that took dogs last year may not this year. If it matters, call ahead.

Denver's summer sun is strong, especially on rooftops. Look for a covered or shaded patio and bring water for your dog on hot afternoons.

Places with a dog menu

Platte Street, LUKI Brewery, Ugly Dog Sports Cafe, Colorado Campfire, Colorado Campfire Uptown, Colorado Tap House, Junction Food & Drink, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar Aurora, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar Westminster, The Patio at Sloan's Lake, The Walnut Room, and ZOMO serve food or treats made for dogs. Dog-friendly bars, breweries and taprooms

Our list has 78 bars, pubs, breweries and taprooms in the Denver area where dogs are welcome, among them Denver Beer Co. Platte Street, LUKI Brewery, Ugly Dog Sports Cafe, Colorado Campfire, Colorado Tap House, Junction Food & Drink and more. Many breweries have no kitchen of their own and park a food truck outside instead.

Dogs inside

Inside, places that cook food keep pet dogs out, apart from service animals. Where a source says dogs can come inside, it is a taproom, a bar or a dog bar: Denver Beer Co. Platte Street, LUKI Brewery, Ugly Dog Sports Cafe, Bruz Beers Midtown, Copper Kettle Brewing Co., Living the Dream Brewing, Locavore Beer Works, Odyssey Beerwerks, Resolute Brewing Tap & Cellar, Skiptown Denver, SomePlace Else Brewery, and WestFax Brewing Company. Skiptown in RiNo is a dog bar with an off-leash play area; dogs need to be registered and vaccinated, and you pay for a day pass or membership.

Before or after the park

Many of these places are a short walk from a dog park. In the Riverfront area, Railyard Dog Park is close to the restaurants on Platte Street and in LoDo, and in Five Points the Sonny Lawson dog park is a few blocks from RiNo. See all dog parks in Denver.
