Fenced off-leash area among redwoods in Joaquin Miller Park, with separate sections for large and small dogs. Dogs must be leashed everywhere else in the park.

Rules

In Oakland's parks, dogs must be on a leash except inside the dog play areas and off-leash parks. There, stay with your dog, keep it in sight and under voice control, and pick up after it right away. Bring no more than three licensed, vaccinated dogs. Puppies under four months, dogs in heat, unneutered males and spiked or pinch collars are not allowed. Small-dog sections are for dogs under 25 lbs and older or frail dogs. No food, smoking or alcohol, and children under 12 need an adult. (City of Oakland)

Rules and hours can change, and dog parks sometimes close for repairs. Check the signs at the gate.
