Who runs what in the Presidio

The National Park Service manages the Presidio's coast, including Crissy Field and Baker Beach. There, dogs may be off leash only in the signed voice-control areas, and must come when called. From July 1 to May 15, the west end of Crissy Field's beach is leash-only to protect shorebirds (National Park Service).

The Presidio Trust manages the rest of the park. On its land, dogs need a leash no longer than six feet, except in the zone on and near West Pacific Avenue. Dogs are not allowed on ball fields, playgrounds, the golf course or in sensitive natural areas, and some trails close to dogs from April to October during coyote season (Presidio Trust).

After a walk, Colibri Mexican Bistro on Moraga Avenue welcomes dogs on its patio.
