Co-founder Alex Tweet brewed at Ballast Point and Modern Times in San Diego before starting Fieldwork with East Bay native Barry Braden, whom he met while both worked at a San Diego restaurant. The brewery fills a building of about 10,200 square feet at the corner of Sixth and Harrison, built around a three-vessel, 20-barrel brewhouse.

Fieldwork has made well over 200 different beers and has since opened taprooms in Napa, San Mateo, Monterey and Sacramento.
