Early inspiration came from Diana Kennedy's book The Cuisines of Mexico, culinary tours in Mexico and mole enchiladas eaten in Guadalajara. Picante celebrated 40 years in June 2023, around the time its dining room was renovated and hung with art collected in Mexico. Front and back patios hold close to 100 seats.
