Eric Fenster and Ari Derfel, who earlier ran an organic catering and wilderness trip company, opened Gather in 2009 with backing from about 110 community investors. Its opening menu drew national notice for a vegan charcuterie plate. Derfel left in 2017, and Fenster now runs the restaurant with co-owner Jodi Munson, general manager since the early years.
Recent dishes include roasted delicata squash with whipped feta and a quinoa harvest bowl with lemon tahini sauce.
