Hotsy Totsy Club

Jessica Maria and Michael Valladares bought the bar around 2009, remodeled it from the ground up and reopened it the same year. They hung '40s and '50s pinups and kitsch under a pressed-tin ceiling and repainted the neon sign in orange, gray and green, a nod to old AC Transit colors.
The cocktail list leans on careful ingredients; the Bitter Rivers, with gin, Aperol, grapefruit and rhubarb bitters, is carbonated and bottled in house. A wall keeps the cardigan and mixing spoons of longtime bartender Chester "the Duke" Anderson.
