The bar has stood here in one form or another since the mid-20th century. It was already the Missouri Cafe when Argentina "Argie" Shepherd bought it in 1950. Regulars often say the name honors the battleship, but her grandson says it does not; she had worked on Liberty ships.

After she died in 2004, the family renamed it the Missouri Lounge, and Ali Eslami bought it in 2005. Photos of Argie still hang on the back wall.
