Brotzeit Lokal opened in June 2013 in the former Oyster Reef Seafood space at the foot of 10th Avenue, on the Bay Trail. At launch chef Lev Delany ran the kitchen, with a burger made from Marin Sun Farms beef, and the bar had 18 taps, more than 50 bottles and a Bavarian lager brewed for it by Linden Street Brewery.

Outside, the biergarten uses 1950s-era Bavarian tables and benches, while the indoor boat house has wood floors. The calendar follows German traditions with Mayfest and Oktoberfest, and weekend games include hammerschlagen, stein hoisting and wiener dog races.
