Founders Tommy Hester and Wilson Barr both pitched in college baseball. They furnished the space with couches, lounge seating, vintage German beer-garden tables, planted trees and art by Oakland muralists. Lovely's runs a small shack in the back, cooking burgers and fries. Readers voted it the best beer garden or taproom in the 2024 Nosh Awards, and the calendar includes trivia and movie nights.
