Bay City was founded in 2015 by Greg Anderson of McGregor's Bar and Grill in Mission Valley and Benjamin Dubois, who started with a production facility in Point Loma. The brewery makes more than a dozen beers, including seasonal releases, and distributes them itself to around 250 restaurants and bars between the Mexican border and Oceanside.
