The Pannikin coffee family turned the bungalow into a restaurant, and Megan Heine, a daughter of that family, has run it since 1994; she and her husband also own Beaumont's in La Jolla. Inside are white wooden walls, shadow boxes of sea glass and shells, and a fireplace covered in hand-painted plates.

Beyond Coast Toast, the menu has included an artichoke and asparagus omelet with truffle goat cheese, a lamb wrap with feta and tapenade, and seafood at dinner such as ginger-chili glazed salmon and macadamia-crusted scallops. Steep stairs lead up from the street.
