Founders Matthew Zirpolo, Derek van Leeuwen and brewmaster Anthony Tallman all grew up in the Carlsbad area. All beer for the company's other taprooms in Escondido, Little Italy and Vista is brewed here, and there is also a private events space called the Greenhouse. Burgeon donates part of the proceeds from beers such as the Nature Calls IPA to environmental groups and in 2024 earned Climate Neutral, Ocean+Positive and 1% for the Planet certifications.
