More about Cafe 222
Gavre funded the cafe with money from a screenplay she sold to Lifetime, and opened it in what was then a rundown part of downtown. She later partnered with chef Carl Schroeder on Market in Del Mar and Bankers Hill Bar and Restaurant. The colorful room has chandeliers made from coffee cups and spoons, and dishes carry playful names such as "Green Eggs and Spam".
