Lopez grew up in Tijuana and built a catering business before becoming executive chef at La Doña in Ocean Beach in 2020. Casa Gabriela, which carries her name, opened in January 2023 with the Cohn Restaurant Group in the former BO-beau kitchen + garden space.

Seating is split between an indoor dining room, a bar, a loft and an outdoor garden. Dishes drawn from her family include her grandmother's lentils with fish in banana leaf and her mother's honey and ancho chile salmon.
