Mo Nuspl, a former mechanical engineer who started homebrewing in college, opened Deft in late 2017 with partner Kevin Malik. Year-round beers include Bay Park Blonde, Bruxelles Trip, a Belgian tripel, and Dawn of the Deft, an English porter that has won several medals. The Gärten opened next door to the tasting room in October 2022, adding wood-fired pizza from Pizza Cassette, meads and ciders, and live music.
