Eppig revives a beer name first launched in Brooklyn about 150 years earlier by Leonhard Eppig, an ancestor of cofounder Stephanie Eppig. She and her husband Todd Warshaw restarted the brand in San Diego in 2016, first brewing in North Park, and opened the waterfront spot in February 2018 next to Point Loma Seafoods. Its taproom has long communal tables and about 20 taps. San Diego Magazine named Eppig to its 2023 list of 15 top local breweries. The Vista and La Jolla tasting rooms closed in December 2023, while the biergarten stayed open.
