The garage was a Coronado fixture from 1946 until 2017, and the restaurant kept its curved windows and polished concrete floors. Vintage signs and parked cars fill the room, with a red Fiat convertible used as seating, and a former parking lot became a permanent outdoor dining area. Shelves hold imported Italian groceries and wine, and a window sells pastries and cappuccino in the morning.

Matteo Cattaneo opened the first Buona Forchetta in South Park in 2011. The name means a good fork, and the group also runs locations in Liberty Station and Encinitas.
