More about Mario's de La Mesa

Juan Vasquez started at Mario's as a dishwasher in 2006. When the previous owners decided to retire, they offered him the chance to buy the restaurant, and he and his wife, Lizette, took it over, keeping it a family business on La Mesa Boulevard. Before the purchase he often worked seven days a week, with shifts of 10 to 12 hours.
