Allison and Erik Sadauskas signed the lease in late 2009 on the former Serenader, a jazz and blues bar that had operated for decades before sitting neglected for years. The couple did most of the three-and-a-half-month renovation themselves, rewiring the building and redoing plumbing and the facade. The old Serenader sign still lights up out front. The U-shaped room has a small stage by the entrance, and the walls carry classic horror movie posters, San Francisco rock show posters, old beer trays and vintage cash registers.
