Oren Dobronsky, a Tel Aviv-raised tech entrepreneur, opened the first Oren's on University Avenue in Palo Alto in 2011 with his wife Nancy, later joined by restaurant consultants David and Mistie Cohen. Chickpeas, tahini and spices are imported from Israel. The Mountain View room took over the old Workshop Burger space, with high ceilings, about 60 seats inside and a small patio, and the wall signs repeat the chain's motto, "rip, scoop, eat."
